                                Street/Lane Closure – West Broad Street

WHO: City of Richmond Department of Public Works

WHAT: Street/Lane Closure

WHEN: Saturday, September 17 thru Tuesday, September 20

·         Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

·         Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WHERE: The following areas will be impacted:

·         Brook Road between Broad Street and Adams Street will be closed

·         Northbound lane of Adams Street from Broad Street to Brook Road will be closed

·         Westbound parking lane on Broad Street between Brook Road and Adams Street will be closed

PARKING: Parking restrictions will be in place in the following areas:

·         North side of Broad from Adams to Brook    

·         Brook  from Adams to Broad

·         East side of Adams (mid-block) from Brook to Marshall

BACKGROUND: There will be a street closure and temporary lane closures in the above areas in accordance with Council approved resolution 2010-R171-180 and Urban Design Committee authorization for the development of the Maggie L. Walker Memorial Plaza.

Work in this area will result in the inclusion of a public plaza around commemorative artwork in honor of Maggie L. Walker. The project will bring to fruition the vision laid out in the 1992 Broad Street Streetscape Design Guidelines. Streetscape improvements will be made to the entire area around the triangular parcel bounded by North Adams Street, West Broad Street, and Brook Road.
