WHAT:  Lane Closure

WHEN: Thursday, January 3 through Friday, February 23, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WHERE: Meadowbridge Road at 1st Avenue and Highland View Avenue
BACKGROUND: Residential traffic calming improvements will be made at the intersection, including construction of landscaped concrete medians and additional pavement markings. Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction zone.

WHAT:  Lane Closure

WHEN:Thursday, December 27 thru Friday, December 28, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WHERE: Lombardy Street Bridge over the CSX Railroad tracks

BACKGROUND: The northbound lane will be barricaded, approximately between West Moore and Admiral streets, to repair a broken safety railing. Traffic will be maintained using flagmen.  Motorists are urged to use caution and observe the traffic control signage.

WHEN:  Starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 21 and ending at 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 23
WHERE: 2nd Street between Spring Street and Brown’s Island Way  
BACKGROUND:  The area will be closed to dismantle the tower crane at 621 South Belvidere Street. Please drive carefully and follow the detour signs.

WHEN:  Adding Saturdays to the current daily schedule starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 15 through 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019
WHERE: Forest Hill Avenue from Hathaway Road to Powhite Parkway  
BACKGROUND:  The area will experience intermittent lane closures during construction of the Forest Hill Avenue Improvement Plan. Project improvements include: the installation of sidewalks, curb and gutter, medians, landscaping, traffic signals, paving and pavement markings. Drivers are encouraged to follow all construction signs within the construction zone.

WHEN: Sunday, December 9 through Monday, December 17, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
WHERE: Canal Street
BACKGROUND: Canal Street between 6th and 7th streets will be closed while a crane operates at the Dominion Energy building.  Access to the Delta Hotel by Marriott (formerly Crown Plaza) will be maintained by temporarily converting Canal Street to two way traffic between 5th and 6th streets. Motorist are urged to use caution and observe traffic signage

2018 Dominion Energy Christmas Parade Traffic Advisory

Thousands of people are expected to line Broad Street on Saturday for the 35th annual Dominion Christmas Parade. Numerous street closures and “No Parking” zones will be in effect.

The parade will begin at 10:15 a.m. at the Science Museum of Virginia and proceed east on Broad Street toward Seventh Street. More than 100,000 spectators from across Virginia attend annually, according to parade organizers.

Major city thoroughfares such as Broad Street and Leigh Street will be affected. “No Parking” zones along the route will go into effect beginning at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 until 3 p.m.

The following roads will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. and remain in effect until approximately 2:00 p.m.

·         West Broad Street between Terminal Place and North 8th Street
·         DMV Drive between West Broad and West Leigh Streets
·         West Leigh Street between Hermitage and Myers Street
·         North 7th Street between East Broad and Jackson Streets
·         East Leigh Street between 4th and 9th Streets
·         East Marshall between 3rd and 7th Streets
