                                            Street Closures – Various Streets

WHAT:  Street Closures
 
WHEN:  Today and Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, February 19  

WHERE: Closures due to high-water and flooding issues (these streets are already closed and will remain closed until further notice):

  1. Riverside Drive from Stratford Rd, & to Riverside & Rockfall Dr
  2. Cherokee Rd from James Riverwatch Dr to Beechmont Rd

Due to inclement weather conditions expected tomorrow, Wednesday, February 19, the following streets will be closed and remain closed until the roadways/streets are clear:

  1. Boulevard bridge both sides of the bridge – North and South
  2. Brown’s Island Way at S 2nd St. and at Tredegar St.
  3. Byrd St. at 3rd St. and at 4th St.
  4. N 23rd St. at Franklin St. and at Grace St.
  5. N 25th St. at Main St., Franklin St., Grace St. and at Broad St.
  6. E. Marshall St. at N 21st   St. and at 20th St.
  7. Duval St. (900 N.7th St). N 5th St. and at N7th St
  8. 500 Hospital St.  at N Hospital St. and at I95 & I64 Ramp

BACKGROUND:  The areas listed above have been identified as roadways with potential flooding and freezing issues.

WHAT:  Street Closure
 
WHEN:  Starting at 9 am Friday, February 14 and ending Sunday, February 16 at 9 pm  

WHERE: 200 block of North Thompson Street (1st voter district)

BACKGROUND:  The area will be closed to dismantle a tower crane.

                                            Lane Closure – East Richmond Road

WHAT:  Lane Closure
 
WHEN:  Starting Wednesday, February 12 through July 30, 2026

WHERE: East Richmond Road from Jennie Scheer Road to Eanes Lane (7th voter district)

BACKGROUND:  Construction in the area includes the replacement of the bridge over Gillies Creek and the bridge over Stony Run. Detour: Jennies Scheer Road to Government Road to Williamsburg Road then along Britiles Lane to Gay Avenue (the detour will be marked).

                                                     Lane Closure – Mosby Street

WHAT:  Lane Closure
 
WHEN:  Monday, January 27 through Friday, February 7

WHERE:  Mosby Street (1000 to 1200 blocks) at the intersections of P, Q and R streets (7th voter district)

BACKGROUND:  There will be intermittent lane closures in the aforementioned areas to allow a contractor to install curb extensions and flex posts. This work is part of the Office of Equitable Transit and Mobility’s ‘Lighter, Quicker, Cheaper’ Program aimed at making temporary enhancements to improve pedestrian safety while permanent solutions are developed and funded.

Lobby Day 2025 Road Closures and No Parking Zones

The Richmond Police Department asks the public to be aware of several road closures and ‘No Parking’ zones that will be in effect during Lobby Day 2025.

 

The RPD, in collaboration with partner law enforcement agencies, is dedicated to ensuring the public can safely access the Virginia State Capitol grounds for the annual Lobby Day event with legislators. The road closures and no parking zones are implemented to support this effort.


Roads will be closed from 6 a.m. –6 p.m., Monday, January 20, ‘Street Closure’ map is below.

The following roads will be closed during that time:

  • North 9th Street between East Main and East Broad streets
  • East Franklin Street between North 8th and North 9th streets
  • East Grace Street between North 8th and North 9th streets

‘No Parking’ zones will be established from 5 a.m. -6 p.m., Monday, January 20, ‘No Parking’ map is below.

  • North 9th Street between East Broad and East Main streets
  • East Franklin Street between North 8th and North 9th streets
  • East Grace Street between North 8th and North 9th streets
  • North 14th Street between East Broad and Bank street

                                              Street Closure – Park Avenue

WHAT:  Street Closure
 
WHEN:  Now through Tuesday, January 14 (this is an extension of an active closure)

WHERE: Park Avenue between Libbie Avenue and Chase Street in the 1st Voter District

BACKGROUND:  Due to inclement weather, the aforementioned area will remain closed through Tuesday, January 14. The closure is needed for utility installations. Note: there are no property entrances within the closure area and all property owners on Park Avenue will have access to their property outside the closure area.

Lane Closure: Cherokee Road at Echo Ho Lane

                                              Lane Closure – Cherokee Road

WHAT:  Lane Closure
 
WHEN:  Monday, January 13 through Wednesday, January 15 from 9 am. to 4 p.m., daily

WHERE: Cherokee Road at Echo Ho Lane in the 4th Voter District

BACKGROUND:  The area will be closed to allow a subcontractor for Dominion Energy access to transfer overhead power lines underground on Cherokee Road.

Note: Residents will have access to their homes during the lane closure.
