Bridge Closure
Commerce Road over Goodes Creek
~ The bridge replacement is anticipated to complete late 2025 ~
RICHMOND, VA.
– A bridge inspection this morning revealed severe deterioration. To
ensure public safety the 84-year-old bridge will be closed as of today, just
one month ahead of the bridge replacement schedule. As a part of Commerce Road
Improvements Project, the bridge replacement was originally scheduled to begin
in May 2024 and complete late 2025. The detours previously approved by
the community for the bridge project are in place. Southbound motorists
can travel from Bellemeade Road to Richmond Highway to Bells Road and motorists
travelling northbound should use Bells Road to Richmond Highway to Bellemeade
Road.
