N. Wilton Road Detours Sept. 2-26

Starting the week of Sept. 2, weather permitting, a contractor working for the Department of Public Utilities will be making drainage improvements on N. Wilton Road between its intersections with Kingsbury Road and Dillwyn Road. During construction, it will be necessary to close a short section of N. Wilton and detour traffic via the intersection of Seneca and Dillwyn roads, and at the intersection of Seneca and Kingsbury roads.


Planned work is the installation of a manhole, replacing a line of pipe, repairing cavitations, and restoring the pavement. The project is estimated to take three weeks to complete (approx. Sept. 26).

Expect detours around 1800 block E. Main between S. 18th and S. 19th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for next 5-8 days for sewer connection work, starting Thursday, Aug. 14.

Work on Jeff Davis Thursday night closes lanes, intersection, water

Water Distribution will be replacing three valves this coming Thursday night, Aug. 14, starting at 11 PM. Work is expected to be finished by 7 am Friday morning.

We are shutting down two lanes of the northbound 400 Block of Jefferson Davis Highway from Maury Street to Chicago. The intersection of Jefferson Davis of Maury Street will be closed in all four directions.

The water will be off to the following address:

WHEN:  Monday, August 18, 2014 through Thursday, January 1, 2015
WHERE: The following areas will be impacted by the lane closures:
·         East Broad Street between 10th Street and 11th Street
·         10th Street between Marshall Street and East Broad Street
BACKGROUND:  Additional lanes will be closed in the aforementioned areas as construction continues on the new Children’s Hospital of Richmond Pavilion. The left parking lane already is closed.  On Monday the left thru lane will close. The center lane will become the left turning lane.  The right parking lane will open to thru traffic for right turns, thus eliminating parking in that area.  The bus stop on 10th Street near Marshall Street will remain intact.
