Falling for the Culture: A Festival of Unity, Peace, and Hope

Richmond Community Invited to Celebrate, Connect, and Uplift on September 28

The Richmond Police Department’s Community Youth, & Intervention Services (CYIS) Unit, in partnership with the City of Richmond’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention, and Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, will host Falling for the Culture: A Festival of Unity, Peace, and Hope on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 12 P.M. to 4 P.M. in the Jackson Ward and Gilpin Court corridor.

The festival will bring together residents, families, and community partners for an afternoon of live entertainment, local vendors, free food, youth activities, and access to valuable resources. Highlights include performances from local artists, a community praise break, games, a basketball trailer, and parade-style participation from Virginia Union University’s band.

Festival goals include:

  • Fostering Unity and Trust among residents, organizations, and city partners.
  • Promoting Peace and Hope by encouraging dialogue and positive engagement.
  • Celebrating Community through local talent, food, arts, and family-friendly activities.
  • Supporting Families and Youth with safe, uplifting spaces and resources

“This festival is more than a celebration — it’s an opportunity to create space for creativity, connection, and hope, while building greater unity within the Richmond community,” said Dee Anderson, Public Safety Program Manager with RPD’s CYIS Unit. “We’re grateful to stand alongside so many community partners in bringing this vision to life.”

The festival is free and open to the public.

Media is invited to attend.
